In the Summer of 1997 Will Haven had already played countless shows, released a 7 song EP and had found a home at Revelation Records. They were now poised to enter the studio to record their breakthrough record el Diablo. Upon its release the music world was sent buzzing about the band. Kerrang! gave the album 5 K's, it's highest rating, calling el Diablo an instant classic. Soon after musicians and media alike were also giving there praises. The release of el Diablo also found the band packing their bags and setting off on a world tour with the close friends the Deftones. During that tour the public was able to witness firsthand the power and emotion the band possessed in their live performances. Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, NME as well as other major media publications were all sent raving about the bands relentless live shows. The band continued their touring schedule, opening for such acts as Limp Bizkit, Beastie Boys and Far.
Will Haven continued to have just as much success with each following release. In the Summer of 1999 the band released its second offering WHVN. This album was also met with rave reviews and found the band on the road constantly with bands such as Slipknot, Soulfly and Fear Factory. After a long successful year, the rigors of touring had left drummer Wayne Morse no choice but to leave the band.
After a long search for a new drummer, the band discovered a local talent named Mitch Wheeler. Mitch was exactly what the band was looking for, his talent and relentless attack on the drums brought a whole new life to the band. Having Mitch as their backbone, Will Haven entered the studio for their third release Carpe Diem, which was released in the fall of 2001. Fans, publications and peers were calling Carpe Diem the bands best work to date. Will Haven was now set for stardom. After releasing the single and video for the song Carpe Diem (featuring Deftones front-man Chino Moreno) the band was now headlining venues in the United States and across Europe.
After a long year of relentless touring and growing success front-man Grady Avenell decided to step away from music to raise his daughter. The belief of the band was that Grady was not replaceable and decided to take a break from Will Haven and pursue other projects.
Now, three years later, the band are back together again, with the same line-up they left three years ago.
